Kill two (no four) birds with one stone and buy a GPS unit. You can get some that operate in "landscape" orientation, which would work quite nice in the middle of the handlebars.

Then you will have a speedo, odometer, map, and clock.

My only concern would be vibration due to the thumper. The person who I saw do this had it on a Marauder which probably runs a little smoother.
